Fishing with two-handed rods on the coast

Daniel has fished with and tested several different two-handed fly rods for the coast.

If you have back problems, or no backcast where you fish, these rods are an easy and relaxing way to fish.

They are also great if you just want to have a relaxing trip.

They are fun to fight fish on, they are windproof and the lines are very versatile.

With these rods, you can really keep the fly in the water.

Send your flies out to the sea trout on the coast easily and elegantly

It is an easy

If you ask us, the best fly rods for the coast are:

  • TFO Axiom II X
  • GLS IMX-Pro Fly V2 S
  • Scott Wave
  • Nam Ren+
  • Scott Sector
  • Sage Igniter
  • Sage Salt R8

All these fly rods for the shore can do something different

In addition, it is in several different price ranges.

Some of the rods are the best bet if you are looking for a light class 5 rod for the fjord, while others are the best bet if you are looking for a launcher that can withstand waves and wind on the outer coast.

Many of our choices reflect our preference for fast blades. We feel this makes for more efficient inshore fishing. Distance is great, but the biggest advantage is being able to pick up the line and quickly send it in the direction of a fish you have spotted.

Idyllic and relaxing on the coast

Light fly rods for the fjord and quiet days

When there is no wind, or you are moving around inside the fjords, light fly rods are great to use.

If you are looking for a rod that can handle foam beetles on the coast, then you will quickly, like us, develop a fondness for these fast blades - they simply cast the "big" beetles much easier. This can be crucial in the fjord, where you want to make longer casts than you would typically do in the river.

The fast blades are less sensitive to the wind, as you can get more energy into the line by loading and executing the cast faster.

The rods selected below are the fly rods for the coast that we found to be particularly good in class 5.

Fly rods for the coast

If a class 5 is just light enough for your coastal fishing, then these are the rods you should look for.

These rods are fantastic in class 6, 7 and 8. Which are the classes that the vast majority of people use on the outer coast.

Here the selection is significantly larger than it is for the lighter rods. There are actually a lot of fly rods to highlight, which is why this list does not contain all the different options, but only those that we think are the best fly rods for the coast.

What class of fly rod for the coast

Fly rods in classes 4 to 8 can be used for fly fishing on the coast.

The classes we use and sell most for the coast are classes 6 and 7. This is certainly because they can be used on all Danish coasts.

The higher class you use, the more wind you can control.

Class 4 and 5 are clearly most used on completely calm days, or in general in the fjord.

In the fjord, it is often "overkill" to use a class 7 or 8 fly rod. Here you rarely have to contend with big waves and long casts.

Often, you have to make relatively short casts, as the fish stay close to land - this actually also applies to the outer coast.

Your first fly rod to the coast

If you are buying your first fly rod for the coast, we recommend a class 6 or 7.

With these classes you can tolerate somewhat more than you can with a class 4 or 5.

We are of course happy to share our experiences, tips and tricks.
